Trumer Pils Tour

Day 3

"So when the devil says to you, 'Do not drink,' answer him: 'I will drink, and right freely, just because you tell me not to.' One must always do what Satan forbids."
~ Martin Luther

On Day 3, we bid "Auf Wiedersehen" to Munich and hit the road towards Salzburg. On the way, we stopped in the idyllic little town of Obertrum am See to visit the Trumer Brewery, the makers of (according to them) the world's best Pilsner. I'll admit I'm not an expert on Pilsners, but I'm not inclined to disagree .

This isn't part of the brewery, but it was the first sight off the bus and it just screamed "We're in Austria now!"

The brewery has been in operation since the 1600s, but has been owned and operated since the early 1900s by the Sigl family.

Our tour guide was Johanna, a delightful little beer hobbit who clearly adores her job and is living her dream.

We were able to look into the tank and see the fermenting beer a-bubblin' away.

And of course, while the tour was interesting, the tasting was far and away the best part.
